Vaakki Cafe sits just off the bustling Old Mamallapuram Road near Salavankuppam, carving out a quietly inviting spot for those passing through or looking to unwind near Mahabalipuram. This café primarily draws in local families, travelers, and weekend explorers who appreciate a relaxed, informal setting with the added treat of wood-fired pizzas.

The atmosphere at Vaakki Cafe is casual and grounded — not flashy, but with enough charm to linger over a meal or a drink. It’s the kind of place you might stumble upon when you want a break from the more tourist-heavy spots along the East Coast Road. In the evenings, warm lighting softens the vibe, creating a cozy but open environment that suits pairs and groups alike.

The wood-fired pizzas here are a key attraction and have earned a good local reputation for their authentic oven-baked texture and balanced flavors. Options like the classic Margherita or more adventurous offerings with jalapeños and chicken breast carry a rustic, home-style appeal rather than a fine-dining polish. Beyond pizza, the café’s variety of fresh juices—ranging from watermelon and mango to more unusual choices like custard apple and fig—offer a lively, refreshing alternative to the usual café fare.

Vaakki Cafe fits well into local routines as a midday or early evening stop, especially for those looking to enjoy flavorful, straightforward food without a rush. It’s also popular among families or small groups who want to share a spread—several combo meals cater to this with a mix of pizzas, garlic sticks, french fries, and soft drinks. If you’re in the area and seeking a casual pizza experience paired with a cool juice or simple coffee, this café serves as a dependable spot away from the main tourist drag.

We've discovered a hidden gem in Mahabalipuram! This cafe serves the most mouth-watering wood-fired pizzas, with a unique flavor that's hard to find elsewhere. The coffee options are diverse and expertly brewed, while the juices, milkshakes, and smoothies are refreshing and delicious. The burgers, sandwiches, and toasties are all made to perfection. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, with warm hospitality that makes you feel right at home. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a great dining experience!"

Best pizza near by mahabalipuram, simply it is hidden gem in mahabalipuram. It is little away from mahabalipuram outer so ig people are unaware of this shop. We saw this shop in map and we for dine in. They have wide variety of pizza, fried chicken, burgers, fries, nuggets, mojitos. Don’t miss their pizza because they are making pizza in firewood oven. And also American zinger chicken burger this one is sooo big and juicy. About the atmosphere, the place is quite and it is little away from mahabalipuram city About cost, price is little high but they are providing best and tasty food.

A calm n quiet place closer to Mahabalipuram. It’s less than a kilometre from ECR. Have visited this place couple of times from the time they opened. Their wood fire pizzas are really mouth watering. Their French fries was also good. They have different juice options too; I tried the lemon mint and it was really good. The ambience is well lit at night and looks really cool. Service was good too. A must try place

Vaakki Cafe is a beautiful spot located in Mahabalipuram. We tried the Chicken Strips, Special Chicken Lover Pizza, Irish Coffee, and Chocolate Ice Cream Milkshake. Overall, the food was good, though the Irish Coffee didn’t quite meet expectations. A few items from the menu weren’t available when we visited, which was a bit disappointing, but overall, it was still a nice experience.

Oh, loved the experience. After a long time, went to a cafe and felt the peace, ofcourse with great food. I was eyeing this for the last 2 months and glad we tried it now. The interior, the garden space and open space makes this cafe, one of a kind. The staff are polite, help you with suggestions and happy folks. Loved everything I ate, the wood fired pizza was the star of the dinner. In love with the Mojito, felt exactly like the ones we get at Pondy. Can't wait to be back and try other options on the menu. WIP - they'll need to clear the dustbins, clean/ sanitize the menu.
